In October of 2005, I spent eight days on the Big Island of Hawai'i. For the first four days, I hiked and biked around the seaside town of Hilo. Then, I drove up to the summit of Mauna Kea (elevation: 13,700 ft) and conducted astronomical research for four nights using NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility.

In May of 2007, I traveled to Oahu for an astronomy conference.

I returned to Hawaii in August of 2007 for another observing run, also on the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility.

In February of 2008, I made another trip to the Big Island to use the Keck Observatory.

October 2008 saw a return trip to the Big Island, again to collect data from the Keck telescope.
